Philadelphia Flower ShowsÂ
Spade and Trowel Club has been exhibiting the Philadelphia Flower Shows for years.
Â
The purpose of a flower show is to:
-
set standards of artistic and horticultural excellence,
-
broaden knowledge of horticulture, flower arrangement, conservation, and other related areas, andÂ
-
share the beauty of a show with fellow club members and the public.Â
Flower shows combine artistic vision, horticultural mastery, engineering, and sophisticated craftsmanship to create a brief but brilliant display of beauty in time.
Â
View the photos and the descriptions (intents) of the most recent flower shows entered.  Then marvel at the creative exhibits in many flower show entries since the 50's in the gallery of photos.
Spring 1990, a shaded garden gate draped in ferns and ivy stands before two men poised to revive Heligan Gardens. Once an estate nurtured by Cornwall's maritime climate, exotic plants and greenhouses had languished since WWI. Their dedication transformed abandonment into sanctuary, honoring the gardeners who never returned. Â
Key West Parrot Heads, tap that coconut paragraph, and pass the word! Come celebrate spring and the legendary bard of Margaritaville, teller of faces and places, smugglers and sailors, beach bums and beauties, lovers and loners. Seabreeze is balmy, Sun a - bakin', tequila is chillin'. Only your drink is on ice!
Sunny summer flowers spill from colorful containers, while sailing treasures remind this retired sea captain of his proud heritage. His telescope reveals a panoramic view of Buzzard's Bay as he remembers his ancestors who plied the seas hunting whales for the oil that gave New Bedford National Park its nickname.
