The purpose of the Spade and Trowel Club is to stimulate interest and knowledge in gardening, flower arranging, and conservation for the benefit of our membership and the community.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in member homes or public venues. Coffee and social time begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. business meeting, Design Presentation, Horticulture Presentation and Program.  Hostesses serve lunch. Membership is limited to 35 members.

Spade and Trowel Club was organized by Mrs. Malcolm Farquhar of the Kennett Garden Club, the senior club of Kennett Square at the time. The club joined the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP), District 1, in 1946. As a member of GCFP, we are included as members of the Central Atlantic Region (CAR) of The National Gardens Club, Inc. (NGC).

To celebrate the 80th birthday of the club, a chronicle was created to provide a glimpse of the club's rich history.  That chronicle was updated to celebrate the 85th birthday of the club.

Each year visit our booth at the Kennett Square Holiday Village Market! Find holiday floral arrangements, birdseed wreaths, waxed amaryllis, swags, dried flower ornaments, and more—perfect for gifting or decorating your home.
